Kamikawa Falls
At 25 meters high and 30 meters wide, the powerful Kamikawa Falls is the largest of the seven waterfalls in the area. A 130-meter suspension bridge hangs 68 meters overhead, creating the perfect vantage point to see the park and the falls below. Wi-Fi available.

Kamikawa Beach
The Kamikawa Beach is a convenient campground that features covered cooking areas and outdoor tables, plus easy access to Michi-no-Eki (a roadside rest area), and convenience stores. Hanaze Stone Riverbed
This beautiful natural wonder looks like stone paving stretching for two kilometers and 60 meters wide across a river. There’s a car campground nearby complete with Goemon pot baths and outdoor cooking areas, plus air-conditioned bungalows for rent. Wi-Fi available.

Shouyoju-no-Mori (Laurel Forest)
One of the largest laurel forests in Western Japan, Shouyoju-no-Mori is a treasure trove of rare plants and animals, including the Hynobius osumiensis salamander and Swertia tashiroi flowers. There’s also a natural stone observation platform and a variety of hiking and walking courses to choose from. You can get tons of information on the animals and plants that can be found in the laurel forest at the Inaodake Visitor Center, which also offers outdoor learning activities so you can make the most of the area’s gorgeous natural surroundings.

Yamannaka Ongakukai (Mountain Concert)
This concert event takes place in August every year on the stone riverbed that spreads across the Hanaze River. See the Hanaze River lit up with carved bamboo lanterns, candles made out of plastic bottles, and more, enveloping the stage in a peaceful, magical atmosphere.

Daikon Drying Rack Illumination Event
The Daikon Drying Rack Illumination Event that is held every December is one of the hallmarks of winter in Kinko. Outdoor drying racks for daikon radishes are illuminated in the darkness of the winter night sky. You can get hot food during the event, plus dried daikon and other local specialty items. There’s even a performance of local kamimai dancing.

Kinkocho Denshiro Trail
This trail run that is held in November every year winds through one of the largest laurel forests in Western Japan. Choose from either a 30-kilometer course with 1,700 meters of total elevation gain and a time limit of seven hours, or an 18-kilometer course with 1,200 meters of total elevation gain and a time limit of five hours. Both take you through the gorgeous natural surroundings at the southernmost tip of the Japanese mainland.

Reggae Beach Festival
This live reggae event takes place in the sweltering July heat along the Kamikawa Beach. The crowds pulse with exciting rhythms as everyone dances to the tropical beats. The spicy dishes offered at the food and beverage stalls fire up the night with even more heat.

Bamboo Leaf Bento Boxes
The dishes in these bento boxes are lovingly prepared by local women with bamboo leaves, a specialty of the Kinko area. They include simple country favorites like rice balls filled with takana greens, soy-simmered veggies and konjac, and mixed vegetable and sweet potato tempura.
